About
The School of Nursing Bida one of the schools that formed Niger State College of Nursing Sciences. The school was established in 1976 before the creation of Niger state from defunct North Western State. In 1978, a provisional approval was granted to the school to commence the post Basic Nursing Programme. From its inception to date, the school has trained over 4157 qualified general and post basic Nurses.
The pioneer principal of the school was the Late Alh. Jimada Gana (JG) Muhammad Muye, who was assisted then by three nurse tutors including Mr. Philip Ndatsu, (former Secretary General of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria) three clinical instructors and some guest lecturers from General Hospital Bida.
Aim
To prepare professionally competent polyvalent nurse practitioners who will use problem solving skills in providing safe, acceptable, effective and affordable health services to meet the health needs of individuals, families and community at all level of health care.
Philosophy of our School
The Philosophy of Niger State College of Nursing Sciences, School of Nursing Bida is based on four major beliefs:
1. That nursing profession is dynamic and encompasses the interaction of the nurse, the clients and the environment
2. That nursing profession encompasses scientifically sound theoretical and practical knowledge
3. That the promotion of health, prevention of ailment and care of the sick are cardinal in nursing
4. That the knowledge base of nursing covers other discipline such as humanities and social sciences

The mission of school of Nursing Bida is to provide evidenced- based nursing education that will advance the health of individuals at community, national and international levels with a focus on equity.

Objective:
At the end of the General Nursing Educational Programme, the student will be able to:
Apply the knowledge of biological, behavioural and Nursing Sciences in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating Nursing care.
Function independently and in collaboration with other members f health team and related sectors in planning, delivering, and evaluating health care.
Utilize the Nursing process in providing comprehensive Nursing care to individuals and families in the community.
Apply the principles of primary health care in providing comprehensive, continuous and personalised care in homes, schools and health care institutions.
Update Knowledge and maintain professional growth through participation in continuous education programmes.
Contribute to research by assisting in conducting and participating in project and implementing findings geared towards improving health care services and nursing Education.
Develop the capabilities of competent Nurse practitioners to effectively provide family planning services in homes/Hospitals and communities.
